We are happy to announce our 21st homeowner. Brad and Chandler and their small daughter will start working on their house in the fall. Marshfield High School construction program will be using this house as a building project. With the generous help of the high school we will be able to start a second new house in the fall. Our 20th house had over 1,450 hours of volunteer labor. We give a special thanks to the United States Coast Guard who has worked on this house at our Saturday builds. We can continue to provide safe, decent, affordable housing with the generosity of our community and companies who donate gift-in-kind products and material.
We are in dire need of a construction/project coordinator. This is the perfect job for a retired contractor with the ability to organize, work with a volunteer coordinator and supervise volunteers with a variety of skill levels. If you are this person, or know someone who is, contact our office at 541-756-9080, or email info@coosbayhabitat.org, or fill out our on-line volunteer form and we’ll call you!.
If construction is not your thing, we can always use volunteers in our ReStore and for many special projects.
We also have a “Learn to Build a House” program. This allows the not so handy person to learn how a house is built. You can learn skills that will help you with any of your building needs. Come and join the fun, bring a hammer and a pair of gloves. We have provided a calendar at the page site for you to know the next Saturday build. We build at our Morrison subdivision. Directions: Newmark to Morrison, left on Morrison 11 blocks to Webster or look for the construction container on Blanco.
